Risk Control/Loss Control Manager (3/3/10)

The UPMC Health Plan is hiring a full time risk control/loss control manager to help support the workers compensation department within its for its downtown Pittsburgh Chatham Center location. This individual will work daytime hours Monday through Friday. The primary focus of this position will be the successful execution of consultative based servicing and risk engineering services to clients.

In addition, on-site visits of existing and prospective customers will be conducted and comprehensive reports will be completed that evaluate hazards and controls for adequate risk selection, pricing, and application of underwriting techniques leading to profitable growth. This includes the identification of exposures with significant loss potential, investigation of cause/effect of major loss control and hazard safety programs, and service planning and implementation of service commitments with larger and more complex risks. Develop safety programs as required and carry out all safety related functions, to foster a safe and healthy work environment and reduce injuries.

Director, Corporate Safety, Health & Environment (2/10/10)

The Director, Corporate Safety, Health and Environment provides direction, oversight and standardization of corporate environmental and safety and health programs. Provides leadership to the corporate safety, health and environmental management program. Identifies critical issues, develops corrective actions and acquires necessary resources. Assures that operational managers are informed of compliance needs, receives proper instructions and procedures and implements actions to active compliance. Oversees project management and budget control activities to assure objectives are timely achieved within limits. Directs staff/resources to develop, implement and assess corporate compliance programs. Assesses company activities and facilities to identify and quantify program needs. Maintains comprehensive knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations. Establishes and implements corporate policy that achieves compliance in an efficient way. Develops both strategic and tactical plans that create a safety-conscious environment resulting in employee safety and well-being. The position is located in Atlanta, GA, USA, supporting a fortune 100 company with assets of over $45billion and revenue exceeding $22billion.

Job Qualifications: Extensive knowledge of industrial safety and health, FAA, OSHA and EPA compliance and regulations. Airline industry and international regulatory experience desirable. Working knowledge of dangerous goods, flight operations safety, ergonomics, risk management, and safety training. Awareness of flight and maintenance safety requirements. Strong budget, project management and negotiation skills. Bachelor's degree required. Master's or 10 yrs equivalent exp preferred. Exp with OSHA & EPA compliance & negotiation w/ regulators. Corporate level exp leading environmental health & safety programs. Proven record in injury reduction & multi -media environmental program mgmt. Senior Safety Professional (1/28/10)

CTC is seeking a qualified professional to support the DoD client in implementing OSHA VPP program and to assist in the development and writing of Safety and Occupational programs and procedures. In addition the candidate will conduct work for the Voluntary Protection Program Center of Excellence (VPP CX) sponsored by DoD. The Mission of the VPP CX is to assist DoD Installation Commanders and Activity Directors in achieving Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Voluntary Protection Programs (VPP) Star status. In serving that mission, successful candidate will provide direct and remote support to nominated installations and activities across the U.S. This support may include site visits, preparing gap analyses, action plans and follow-up support. The ideal individual will be responsible for VPP assessments, training and implementation both on site and remotely. The qualified candidate will interact with base commanders, safety staff, on-site laborers as well as other VPP CX team members. Excellent communications and team skills are essential. Up to 60% travel may be required.

The selected applicant will possess a Bachelor’s degree in Safety Sciences, Industrial Hygiene, Public or related field plus 6-8 years of experience providing safety and occupational health experience. A Master of Science degree, VPP, Systems Safety and Ergonomics experience is a plus.

Loss Control/Prevention Surveys – Property & Liability Independent Contractor (1/25/10)

Service Area: Southwestern Pennsylvania, Northern West Virginia, Eastern Ohio

Description of Projects: Projects consist of conducting loss control/prevention surveys on properties such as residential, commercial and industrial buildings, vehicles and fleet operations, apartments, condominiums, restaurants, bars, and recreational facilities. The surveys through a walk-through will be to evaluate the physical conditions and identify hazardous conditions that could result in a loss or insurance claim. Information gathered will include mechanical systems, fire detection and fire protection systems, overall physical conditions, and security systems. You will be taking measurements to calculate area/square footage, drawing basic diagrams, and taking digital photos. At the completion of the survey and interview, written reports will be completed in, either, narrative or checklist format, all computer-based/Internet-based. Recommendations will be made for the elimination or control of the identified hazards, unsafe conditions, and potential for loss or claims.
